Top 5 Disney Movie's

Choosing my Top 5 Disney movies was a really difficult decision for me because I’m in love with nearly all of them. As hard as it was, I was able to narrow it down to 5, but they wont be in ranking order. I’ll write a little bit about what I thought about them and what I feel like the movies mean to me.

1.     The Princess and The Frog
I first watched this in the cinema and absolutely fell in love with not only the storyline but also the sound track. The soundtrack really had the New Orleans feel to it with the brass instruments, which I really liked. The story was also modern yet classic, they kept the theme of the transformation of the man kissing then princess and the turning into frog yet adapted it such a way that it would be interesting for modern viewers. For example, adding the character of Dr Facilier, made the story a lot more scary and modern, his songs were really dark and spooky and there are a lot of psychics and fortune tellers who do predict aspects of people lives nowadays.
A major reason why I fell in love with this movie is because Princess Tiana (who is my favourite Disney princess) had to work hard to get her desires (owning her own restaurant). It shows young girls that they also have to work hard to get to where they want to be and not everyone has it easy.  It parallels with the song from the movie ‘Almost there ‘, which I think was really sweet.

2.     Tangled
Tangled is one of my all time favourites to watch at Christmas time, even though its not a Christmas movie they showed it all the time at Christmas, so I just associated the movie with Christmas. Again this movie’s sound track is absolutely brilliant, I could listen to it a million times. Disney again does an amazing job in making the classic tales more modernised. The Romance between Finn and Rapzunel for me was really cool and realistic because it wasn’t the stereotypical Disney movie, where the princess would fall in love with the ‘prince’ straight away; they almost had to work on their relationship throughout the movie. I also thought that the whole lantern theme was really beautiful, it really just brought all the loose ends together at the end of the movie.

 3.     Wreck it Ralph
Wreck it Ralph for me was a one of a kind, funny, beautiful and heart warming all at the same time. I feel like its aim was to teach young people to accept who they are, and to love themselves. Vanellope being called a glitch really makes this theme stand out. Even though the movie had its emotional points it also had a lot of funny moments, and I thought it was very clever of Disney to incorporate all the games like Pac Man into the movie as
well.

4.     The Lion King
An absolute classic to say the least, this one was definitely an emotional roller coaster for me. It had so many happy and amazing moments and sad moments. I think this movie taught me a lot about remembering your roots and where you came from. The lion King also like the others have an amazing sound track. Lots of which have become common phrases like ‘Hakuna Mata’.

5.     Mulan
Is probably in my top 10 categories of favourite Disney princesses because she’s just so real and authentic. Her story delves into the gender gap between men and women and how gender shouldn’t matter. Women can do everything that a Man can and Mulan shows that throughout her story. The first Mulan movies sound track, to me is not that great. However I do like the Mulan II soundtrack a lot better.
